Larry
McKay (aka Larry McKay, aka "Lar'-on-the-Air") began
his broadcasting career in Clearwater, Florida after getting his
B.S. Degree in Radio & Television at Indiana University. After
stints in his hometown of Muncie, Indiana - WLBC
as a morning drive personality, Larry then went on to WMRI
- Marion, Indiana as program and sports director, before taking
on the same duties at the "new" WERK in Muncie. The next step was a BIG one..
Leaving the security and comfort of his home base, Larry and his
family first ventured west to Phoenix, Arizona to KRIZ (Doubleday's
first broadcasting property). Then came morning drive at Y-100
in Miama/Ft. Lauderdale and finally a permanent headquarters in
Los Angeles in 1974, first at the legendary "Boss Radio"
KHJ. Also
doing tours at KIIS,
KFI, KFWB, KRLA and Gene Autry's KMPC, working alongside such icons a Robert
W. Morgan, Wink Martindale, Jim Lange etc. And more recently at
oldies powerhouse K-EARTH
101 radio. All this time in Phoenix, Miami and L.A. Larry
honed his voice-over talents and got more and more work in commercial
and promo work. Some of this included voicing national commercials
for clients like: Princess
Cruises... Honda...
Walt
Disney Productions... Jack-in-the-Box... the Professional Golf Association and more. He's
done CBS Network Television promos and was the pa. announcer for
the Los Angeles Lakers for three seasons; two of them NBA Championship
seasons. Larry has done voice-over's for national sit-com's like:
Cheers... Married, With Children... Fresh Prince of Bel-Air...
Frazier... The Simpsons... Family Ties...
